About the Focal PC 165F
Focal PC 165 F has never been one to sit on their laurels, and their search for sonic perfection has brought them to an unexpected find — flax fibers! These fibers, which are half the weight of fiberglass, contribute to the creation of a very robust and lightweight cone for high-performance speakers. This one-of-a-kind cone is made by sandwiching a sheet of hollow flax fibers between two layers of glass fibers, resulting in a colorful, precise speaker that eliminates unwelcome vibrations.
Hearty power handling
Focal’s Expert Series PC 165F 2-way car speakers combine these innovative flax 6-1/2″ woofers with their celebrated inverted dome tweeters. The inverted dome of the tweeters mimics woofer-style sound dispersion, distributing the high frequencies in a wide pattern to create an exceptionally natural soundstage. These speakers will handle up to 70 watts RMS, and powering them with an amplifier will really enhance their dynamic range.

THE IDEAL COMBINING
Flax cones produce a natural, very dynamic sound without coloration. Composed of a layer of flax sandwiched between two layers of glass fiber, it combines lightness, rigidity, and damping for optimal acoustics. The PC 165F is a 6½” (16.5 cm) coaxial speaker driver featuring an exponentially-shaped cone for an improved mid-range response.
The tweeter, mounted to a reinforced and lower frame, benefits from the same technology as the TNF model used for the other component kits in the range. The aluminum/magnesium inverted dome with Poron suspension is renowned for its smooth and precise sound. To make installation easier and to optimize the sonic response, the basket has an integrated passive crossover.
In order to preserve a visual identity, the PC 165F kit has the same basket as that used for the woofers of the 2-way component kit PS 165F. The shape of this aluminum basket has been optimized to improve voice coil cooling.
