Crystal-Clear Beryllium Tweeter

To push high-frequency replication to the next stage, Focal employs their iconic Beryllium tweeter.
Beryllium can cost 100 times its weight in gold, but the advantages outweigh the costs. This material, which is lighter and more stable than titanium and aluminum, imparts the smoothness of a silk tweeter to your music while maintaining the precision and extended response typically associated with a high-quality metal tweeter. These tweeters pull out all the little things that make you sound like you’re really there.

Hand-Made Woofer Cones

Focal built the woofer with proprietary foam core laminated on both sides with thin sheets of glass fabric. Focal even vary the thickness of the foam core to ensure the absolute accuracy of the woofer’s playback across the entire sonic spectrum.

The aluminum alloy basket uses an open back to cool the woofer’s internal works and to prevent any trapped air from interfering with the cone’s motion. Focal also includes audiophile-grade external crossovers for the smoothest possible transition between the tweeters and woofers, eliminating the peaks and dips in the frequency response that can make your music sound artificial.

The “W” composite sandwich cone permits total optimization of the frequency response curve, thanks to the total control of three key parameters: lightness, rigidity, and damping. These unique characteristics of lightness and rigidity provide control of the signal transmission speed inside the material.

BERYLLIUM TWEETER OF 165 W-RC / Passif

Due to its incredible rigidity, Beryllium represents the ultimate material for a tweeter dome. After two years of research and development, Focal produced a world first: a pure Beryllium inverted dome, able to cover more than five octaves. You will improve the perception of transients and other micro details. As well, the linearity of the speaker’s response curve is mainly a function of three opposite parameters: lightness, rigidity, and damping.
