The Car Salon carries a wide range of subwoofers to add some bass to your car audio system. Our display room features a lot of subwoofers. A subwoofer (or “sub”) is a woofer, or a complete loudspeaker, which is dedicated to the reproduction of low-pitched audio frequencies known as bass. The typical frequency range for a subwoofer is about 20–200 Hz for consumer products, below 100 Hz for professional live sound, and below 80 Hz in THX-approved systems. Subwoofers are intended to augment the low-frequency range of loudspeakers covering higher frequency bands.

When most people think about the subwoofer, they think about bone-shaking, tooth-rattling bass. And while that is a fair correlation, there’s a lot more to a subwoofer than just shaking the windows in any car that pulls up next to you at a stoplight. Low-frequency sounds are a big part of every type of music, so the realism of any sound system really hinges on its ability to hit the low notes just as much as the high ones. Some types of music will benefit from a great sub more than others, but adding in some quality bass can bring any car stereo to life.
