Begin with Excelon

Although it is Kenwood’s first famous Excelon Touchscreen, I definitely won’t consider an “entry-level” DDX396 DVD recipient. The 6.2″ touchscreen interface displays music information from a wide range of sources, all of your telephone call information, and the robust sound-forming features used. You will display engine details and other information for a wide variety of vehicles using the Maestro interface of iDatalink (not included). And Kenwood backs up this Excelon receiver with a 2-year warranty.

Let’s talk music

If you like radio, you are interested in the services available at DDX396, including Pandora®, Spotify®, SiriusXM (optional radio tuner satellite and subscription required). You can connect to the USB port of the rear panel and monitor the music in your mobile when loading your AndroidTM phone or iPhone®. This port also can accommodate music saved on a thumb drive and FLAC music files that are high resolution. And indeed, the reproduction on CDs, AM/FM radio, is still possible.

You choose the look and sound

The variable color lighting of this receiver enables it to align the monitor with your internal light, including the light bulb. It also has a 13-band equalizer that helps you to configure individual tone curves with various audio sources. The driver’s seat is not necessarily the ideal hearing spot, but the optical time adjustment processor times the result of various microphones, so you hear a stereo picture even better. The Drive EQ mode also increases those frequencies to overcome any unpleasant road noise.
